Chris Brown

We’ll finally get to hear from Chris Brown.

The R&B singer stars in the upcoming documentary, Welcome to My Life: The Official Chris Brown Documentary, which received its first trailer Sunday. The movie plans to focus on Brown’s quick rise to stardom and include the 2009 evening when he assaulted then-girlfriend Rihanna. The trailer features A-list musicians including Usher, Jennifer Lopez, DJ Khaled, Mary J. Blige and more, all of whom comment on Brown’s inevitable success.

But it’s when he begins to address the Rihanna controversy that the trailer takes an intense turn. “This is the first time I get to say anything,” Brown says in the clip.

The new documentary’s trailer features the 26-year-old “Loyal” singer discussing the famous night before the Grammys but also shows him looking to the future. “I went from being on top of the world, No. 1 songs, being kind of like America’s sweetheart to being Public Enemy No. 1,” Brown recalls. “I felt like a f–king monster. I was thinking about suicide, I wasn’t sleeping, I barely ate…If there was ever a doubt in your mind Chris Brown was done, he was finished…I wouldn’t bet on it.”

The trailer doesn’t way when Welcome to My Life would be released. Brown hasn’t commented on the documentary’s release but did tweet out the trailer to his followers Sunday.
