Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti was preparing to raid his former club for the 27-year-old, who he signed in 2010 during his time in charge at Stamford Bridge.
Following last month’s Champions League triumph over city rivals Atletico, Ancelotti told Madrid president Florentino Perez that he wanted to bring Ramires to the Bernabeu this summer along with Liverpool striker Luis Suarez.
But according to reports in Spain, Mourinho will not entertain the possibility of letting Ramires leave the club having decided not to renew the contract of veteran Frank Lampard and sanctioned the £50m sale of David Luiz to PSG.
Ramires has been a mainstay in the Chelsea midfield since joining from Benfica for £17m, making 196 appearances for the Blues.
The Brazil international, currently preparing for the World Cup, is contracted at Chelsea until 2017 having signed a new five-year contract in 2012.
Mourinho, rather than facilitating the exit of more members of his squad, is closing in on a quartet of new signings.
Atletico forward Diego Costa is expected to complete his £32m switch next week and will be joined at Chelsea by team-mates Filipe Luis and Tiago.
Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas is on the verge of joining the club after agreeing a four-year contract, which will see him pocket £8.1m a year.
