Chelsea are definitely looking the part after snapping up Cameroon International Samuel Eto’o. It seemed like a baseless rumour a few weeks back but on Thursday Chelsea announced that the decorated African striker had joined their ranks. The former Real Madrid, Barcelona and Inter Milan forward agreed to link up with his former manager Jose Mourinho in a deal that would see him offer his services for a one-year.
The Chelsea attack is certainly looking frightening and shivers are going to be sent down the bodies of opposition clubs. Just when you thought that Torres, Lukaku and Ba were enough to worry about, Chelsea decide to bolster their attacking options with a proven goal scorer in Eto’o. Am I scared???Most definitely.
Samuel Eto’o brings vast experience as he has had a feel of the Champions League, has top scored in leagues like La Liga, has lifted various trophies in Europe and has been voted African Player Of The Year four times. Unbelievable player this one!!
At 31 years old, he is definitely a tad slower than the predator he was in his early twenties but he provides options that his peers Torres, Ba and Lukaku don’t possess. It’s called INSTINCT ladies and gentlemen. The knack to kill off any team at any point in time. He puts the ball in the net with authority and conviction. Hats the gene of natural goalscorers which he has flowing in his blood.
With Eto’o, Mourinho is guaranteed goals. He will definitely be a success. He will relieve the goal burden off Torres as the Spaniard is very unreliable and inconsistent. He will provide that extra bite of experience which Ba and Lukaku are short of.
He is definitely a good signing though it remains to be seen if he can adjust to the demanding conditions of the Premier League and if Mourinho can give him a good run of games in the side.
Otherwise adios BigEye family.
