Charles Obbo

By Our Reporter

The famous ‘ear to the ground’ columnist has finally said bye-bye to the Nation Media Group as he moves on to the Mail and Guardian Newspaper in South Africa. Charles Onyango Obbo (COO) as he is commonly known will be in charge of the group’s online efforts as it seeks to conquer Africa in a style similar to the African review.

However, it’s not clear whether he will continue with the column, but what we are certain of, is that he’s off the NMG payroll. To date, ‘Ear to the Ground’ has appeared for over 1000 times in the Daily Monitor newspaper, a feat only a few columnists have achieved at NMG.

In other news, BigEye.ug also understands that Standard Media Group of Kenya is in the process of signing a joint-venture agreement with one of the Newspapers in Uganda to stamp up competition against NMG which runs Daily Monitor.

BigEye.ug will soon reveal the name of this Newspaper.
