Musician Jose Chameleone has stood with people of Burundi amid widespread violence. The “Wale wale” hit maker who is a household name across the East African region took to social media to show compassion for the Burundians and pray for peace in their nation.
He posted, “May the Lord Shine his light on our Brothers and sisters of Burundi in this time and bring Peace into their Land.”
According to media reports, Burundi is on the blink of a genocide as the death toll continues to rise with continued clashes in the capital, Bujumbura.
Burundi plunged into turmoil in April after President Pierre Nkurunziza announced he would seek a third term in office. He survived a coup attempt in May, and secured a third term in disputed elections in July.
