Ugandan multitalented female artist, Cindy Sanyu is still not convinced with the way Jose Chameleone and his flock exited the Uganda Musicians Association (UMA).
Last week, a number of renowned singers spearheaded by Jose Chameleone formed the Uganda Musicians Forum, an umbrella uniting categories of artists like Superstars and upcomings.
Chameleone revealed how he had shunned the UMA headed by Cindy after the body allegedly failing to accomplish some of its tasks as expected by its members.
However, appearing on a local TV interview, Cindy has disregarded Chameleone’s claims in the media as she challenges him to have not formerly exited UMA where he has been a member since 2019.
The self-proclaimed ‘King herself’ said Chameleone is among the artists that had an official entry into the association moreover with possession of a membership card.
She also revealed that UMA’s resignation policy calls her an official return of the membership card and some documentation which all Chameleone and his followers haven’t done.
“It is of our advantage that whenever some needs a UMA card, he/she has to do an application that consents to the law and its endorsed with their signatures. So when leaving, you need to come and resign and its good that no one has came,” Cindy Sanyu said.
“It be Chameleone or any other artist in that new group, all haven’t resigned as UMA members. We only deal with that when somebody resigns but we have not seen any showing up. I also watch them on TV throwing different complaints. But no one has reached a serious extent of officially resigning from UMA,” she added.
Cindy is UMA’s third President following Ykee Benda who resigned in February, 2021.
