By Our Reporter

Centenary Bank has kicked off its Ramadan Special Food Distribution Program to the Muslim community to support its customers during the fasting period. The distribution commenced at the Tororo main Mosque, Kabasanda Mosque in Mpigi district, and Mariam High School in Kisaasi.

While addressing the congregation at the Main Mosque in Tororo, Centenary Bank’s Managing Director, Fabian Kasi said that, “Supporting the communities where we operate is something that the bank prides in, because the we care about the welfare of people around us.”

“We are glad to extend support to our Muslim brothers and sisters, as we wish them a happy, peaceful, and successful fasting period.”

This is the 8th consecutive year that Centenary Bank has reached out to the Muslim communities during the holy month of Ramadan. This year the bank is donating items including; Rice, Sugar, Soap, Salt, and Maize Flour worth a total of UGX 52 million across the country.

Speaking during the handover of items at Mariam High School, Mr. Rashid Musisi Ssemanda, the Chief Manager Corporate & SME at Centenary Bank commended the Muslims for enduring and upholding their beliefs during such a difficult time caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are reminded of how difficult the past year has been, with our dear friends and loved ones not being able to come together in prayer, celebrate, and congregate due to the novel coronavirus. So, Centenary Bank being the people’s bank, deemed it fit to support the Muslim community during Ramadan.”

“As we remember those that are unable to be here with us today since the outbreak, we remain hopeful for brighter days ahead and maintaining our hope in Allah’s promises,” Ssemanda said.

Centenary Bank will continue carrying out this special program in the upcoming weeks in the various locations countrywide to support its customer and well-wishers. Other areas to be visited include; Kayunga, Fort portal, Wobulenzi, and Bwaise.
