CECAFA Women Football championship launched

The 2016 edition of the CECAFA Women Football championship was launched on Monday by CECAFA in partnership with Uganda’s local football governing body, FUFA during a press conference held in Kampala.

The launching ceremony was graced by the CECAFA General Secretary, Nicholas Musonye alongside the Federation of Uganda Football Association President, Eng. Moses Magogo. The one and half weeks’ tournament will be hosted at the FUFA technical center in Njeru starting on September 11th –to-20th.

Seven countries are expected to take part in this year’s edition and have been seeded into two groups with Uganda being pitted against arch rivals Kenya.

Group A: Uganda, Kenya, Burundi and Zanzibar

Group B: Ethiopia, Rwanda and Tanzania
