Uganda Cranes will today (Monday, 30th November 2015) face off with Malawi in the first quarter final of the 38th edition of the East and Central African regional tournament (CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup).
Uganda broke into the this year’s last eight after edging Burundi by 1-0 on Saturday thanks to Frank Kalanda’s second half strike that eventually become the match winner to top Group B with 6 points having collected maximum points against Zanzibar despite losing to Kenya in the group opener.
Malawi was invited to the oldest regional tournament on the continent as a guest nation.
Uganda meets Malawi for the second time this year, having played them on the 6th of July, 2015 in an international friendly on their national day celebrations at Kamuzu Banda Stadium in the Malawian capital of Blantyre where the Cranes lost 1-0.
In the other quarter final matches, Tanzania entertains Sudan today while Rwanda and Kenya plus Ethiopia and South Sudan face off tomorrow respectively.
