Carol Atuhirwe has been laid to rest.
The fallen cancer victim was buried at her ancestral home in Ibanda district as hordes of mourners gathered for the final send off.
During the funeral, Carol’s parents noted that she will never be replaced as they commended her for the strong fight. They further revealed that her death wish was that leaders should put Radio therapy machines in different hospitals so that other people could not go through the kind of suffering she endured.
Carol turned into a social media sensation following the famous Save Carol campaign, a fundraiser which was held last year and raised over Ugx 270 Million for her specialized treatment in India.
She passed away on Thursday, June 1 after succumbing to throat and lung cancer at Narayana Hospital in Bangalore, India where she had been admitted for more than a year. She died aged 31.
