Peter Ssonko, a school bus driver, has hit the jackpot in the Takula Cash lottery. Ssonko won Ugx 5 million which was handed to him on Wednesday at an event held in downtown Kampala.
The joy was palpable as he received his prize money, noting that he invested very little to win so much money. “I bought 5 tickets for just 10,000/= and I have now won 5 million. I will use my winnings to start a farm,” he said.
He, however, cautioned the youth to exercise self-control while playing the lottery and avoid blowing all their income on gambling.
The money was handed over by Paul Sekantuuka, the Takula Cash Regional representative – central region, who encouraged the public to participate in the lottery.
“I encourage more people to participate in the Takula Cash lottery because it could change their life forever,” he said. “The games to participate in Takula Cash include Treasure (win up to 5 million), Matatu (win up to 10 million) and soccer (win up to 20 million).”
Peter Ssonko is the 3rd individual to hit the big jackpot. The first big winner was Jalia Tugumisirize, a Masaka resident who won Ugx 5 million. Muguuti Steven, a resident of Kyanja, Kampala was the second and biggest winner so far having managed to hit the Ugx 20 million jackpot.
Takula Cash is a scratch and win lottery that was launched on December 11, 2017 and has registered numerous winners who have redeemed their prizes through the mobile money platform. Winnings below Ugx 4 million are instantly redeemable by mobile money while those over Ugx 4 million are paid by Lidtech Uganda
