The Burundi national football team was on Tuesday afternoon held in a Nairobi hotel after the Kenya FA failed to clear the debt.
Coach Lotfy Muhammed’s team was meant to travel to Nakuru Town ahead of their Wednesday Group C game between Tanzania in the on-going CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup.
“Yes the Burundi team was held at the Milele Hotel located in South C.
“The #SamsungTwitterParty is back! Get ready to party the night away come 19th December at Zone 7 with fellow tweeps. Entrance is 15,000shs. Call 0775439894 for details. Great music and drinks.”
But we resolved the matter after the Kenya FA made some part payment and the team was allowed to leave the Hotel,” CECAFA Media Officer Rogers Mulindwa told MTNFootball.com.
The Burundi team that also qualified for the 2014 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) faces Tanzania on Wednesday in a tricky Group B tie.
They beat Somalia 2-0 and lost 1-0 to the COSAFA champions Zambia 1-0.
As the team prepared to move of the hotel, they were stopped on orders of the manager, citing unpaid bills since the team has been accommodated.
“I am very disappointed by this kind of treatment because it completely disorganised us,” said Muhammed.
