Burna Boy, Wizkid win Grammy Awards

Nigerian stars, Burna Boy and Wizkid have clinched victory at the 63rd Grammy Awards which were held on Sunday evening.

Burna Boy won Best Global Music Album for “Twice As Tall” while Wizkid won Best Music Video for “Brown Skin Girl”, a collaboration with Beyoncé .

In his acceptance speech, Burna Boy said, “This is a big win for my generation of African allover the world. And this should be a lesson for every African out there: no matter where you are, no matter what you plan to do, you can achieve it. No matter where you are from, because you are a king.”

This was the second consecutive time Burna Boy was being nominated for the Grammys. He was previously nominated for his album, ‘African Giant’ in the ‘Best World Music Album’,  but lost to Beninese-American singer, Angélique Kidjo.

This marks first career GRAMMY win for both artistes.
