Ugandan media personality and seasoned event host Kella McKenzie now based in the United Kingdom has been actively hosting high profile events in London, positioning himself as a dynamic force within the diaspora entertainment circuit.
After hosting the Queen Sheebah and King Saha concert in London, McKenzie this May will be hosting “The Shady Mixtape Party Season 8,” a vibrant two day celebration featuring Ugandan artists and DJs at Berwick Manor Hotel London. Known for his commanding stage presence and years of experience on Ugandan radio and television, McKenzie seamlessly has transitioned into the UK events space making him a standout figure at diaspora events. Looks like moving to the UK may have marked a shift geographically, but it has not slowed down his career. Instead, it has opened new doors, allowing him to tap into a broader market while maintaining strong ties to his Ugandan fanbase.
Industry observers note that his move mirrors a growing trend of Ugandan creatives exporting their talent internationally while continuing to influence the local scene back home. With more events lined up and a clear focus on international expansion, Kella McKenzie is proving that distance is no barrier to relevance. Whether in Kampala or London, his voice, energy, and brand continue to resonate with audiences cementing his status as a seasoned host.
