Botswana head coach Peter Butler, a former West Ham and West Bromwich midfielder, has hailed the Uganda Cranes ahead of their tie tomorrow at Nelson Mandela National Stadium, Namboole in the Group D opener of the 2017 Afcon Qualifiers.
In his personal remarks during their first training session at the Phillip Omondi stadium in Lugogo, Peter Butler mentioned about the physical nature of Uganda’s game.
“Uganda is a great team which plays a very physical game. We have new players on board and we are on a developmental trend,” Butler told Kawowo.
He, however, remained shy about his team’s chances of progressing from Group D given the opponents in it who include 2013 runners up Burkina Faso, Comoros and Uganda.
“You cannot qualify after just one match. It is not easy to gauge now but we shall assess after the opening game has been played,” he said.
The Zebras are already in the country and residents at Hotel Africana with a contingent of 21 players and 8 officials. The squad is led by Botswana Football Federation official, Onkagetse Pusoentsi.
