Musician Bobi Wine has told FDC to withdraw its candidate and support him in the Kyadondo East by-election.
This after he held a meeting with the party officials on Tuesday.
He said, “Today I was invited for a meeting with the FDC top leadership to find a way of harmonising the situation in Kyadondo East by-election. I made it clear that although I am running as an INDEPENDENT candidate, I have many supporters in FDC since we are all forces of change and subscribe to the same ideology.”
“I also suggested that FDC withdraws it’s candidate Hon. Apollo Kantinti in favour of my candidature so that we can win with an even bigger margin than we are already doing. I await their decision,” he added.
The “Bikwase Kyagulanyi” singer will be nominated on Wednesday, May 31 at Kasangati Saza grounds. He will thereafter address his first rally at Wampeewo grounds as he officially kicks off his campaigns.
Bobi, who is standing on an independent ticket, will go against FDC’s Apollo Kantinti and NRM’s Sitenda Sebalu among others in a by-election that will be held on June 26.
The Kyandondo East constituency seat fell vacant following the nullification of FDC’s Apollo Kantinti election through court over noncompliance with electoral laws on the side of Electoral Commission.
