Musician Bobi Wine, real name Robert Kyagulanyi, has filed a case against Electoral Commission for having used his song Obululu in their sensitization campaigns during the election period without his consent.
Bobi claims that his song has now been adulterated, plagiarized, lost value and that in its current form it cannot even attract a sponsor for a launch. He also adds that he has suffered such embarrassment and humiliation among his peers who treat him as a traitor.
Through his lawyers, Busingye and Co Advocates, he wants the commercial court to declare that the electoral body infringed on his rights to privacy, dignity and identity.
The Situka singer also wants court to compel the Electoral commission to compensate him in damages, general damages and punitive damages. He however didn’t mention how much he should be compensated in damages.
As we write this, the court has summoned the Electoral commission to file its defense within 15 days from the date of receipt of summons.
We will keep you posted.
