Bobi Wine Receives Rotary Award

bobi wineMusician Bobi Wine has been awarded with the vocational service award from the Rotary Club of Entebbe.

“After a series of consultations with the board, the vocational service directorate went onto a hunt for this year’s vocational service award recipient. Basing on the findings, the directorate nominated Bobi Wine (Robert Kyagulanyi) as this year’s Vocational awardee and consequently barked by the club assembly,” read a statement from the Club.

Bobi Wine covered all the Rotary’s six areas of focus which are; Promoting peace, Fighting disease, Providing clean water, Saving mothers and children, Supporting education and Growing local economies hence the award.

The ‘Dembe’ singer accepted the award saying that he felt honoured and humbled. “Thank you Rotary Club Entebbe. I am honored by your award of man of the season.  I am glad to be of service to the society and being recognized for it, Is a bonus.”

Recently, Bobi Wine revealed that he doesnt sing to win awards. “I don’t sing to win awards but I sing to educate, entertain and to deliver message to the public. If an award is for that, then I will accept it.”

Vinka Celebrates her Birthday with Grand Gesture from fans

There’s no such thing as a celebrity without their fans. Today is musician Vinka’s birthday and her fans couldn’t let it slip by without getting involved. They surprised her with an early birthday cake yesterday something that made her so happy, but mostly shocked about how they managed to pull it off with the current restrictions.

“Thank you so much my vinkaddicts for the early birthday cake. Y’all made me cry, you made it even with the hard transport measures. I love you guys so much.” She captioned the photo.

Talk about a loved artist; Vinka is loved by so many people and it’s on days like these that people get to express their love through birthday wishes. Fellow artists and fans have already started send her birthday wishes.

Giovanni Kiyingi out to tussle for top spot in Afro-soul music

United States of America -based Ugandan multi-instrumentalist Giovanni Kremer Kiyingi is out to give fellow instrumentalist and Afro-soul artists a run for their money and top spot since he released his fire anthem dubbed ‘KamaDudu’.

The development comes through after the jam is receiving massive air rotation on different mainstream media outlets such as TV’s and radio stations.

On top of receiving massive airplay, the lively and uplifting jam that consists of local musical instruments such as ‘Entogoli’ that added the much needed flavor to the song, has so far seen many music critics predict the song as the next Ugandan biggest jam to “Sitya Loss”.

Just to jog you back down the memory lane, Giovanni Kiyingi has always been a great live performer at every event where he took stage.

His name went down to history books when he staged an electric and powerful performance during Pope Francis visit to Uganda in November 17th, 2015, a show that left many yearning for more at Kololo Airstrip.

It’s such an amazing moment for socialite Sheila Gashumba after the Ministry of Health – Uganda Permanent Secretary, Dr. Diana Atwine picked interest in her campaign dubbed ‘Stop Social Media Bullying in Uganda’.

Through her Twitter handle, Dr, Diana Atwine revealed how interesting this topic is and hopefully she is ready take part as one of the respected public figures to help end cyber bullying.

Dr. Atwine has since received good feedback as her followers have retweeted with their appreciations to her for standing with the victims of Cyber harassment.

The cause against social media bullying is an initiative solely started by Sheila Gashumba and her boyfriend Ali Marcus Lwanga aka Gods Plan.

It has been deeply rooted against Urban TV’s presenter Tina Fierce whom Sheila and boyfriend accuse of compromising their lives and careers via her gossip programme ‘Scoop on Scoop’.

The campaign has attracted a lot of attention from both celebrities and their fans as concentrates on speaking for the voiceless victims.

It’s a big theme trending among the top five topics on social media for the past two weeks now.

Sheebah, Spice Diana, Feffe Bussi to headline the ‘Men at work’ E-Concert this Sunday

The Men at work for Gender Equality and Women empowerment campaign is set showcase in an E-Concert this weekend and a number of top Uganda artistes have been lined-up for the event.

It’s confirmed that Sheebah Karungi, Spice Diana, Feffe Bussi, B2C, are among the few selected musicians to feature in the upcoming event with their respective music pieces preaching about Gender equality and formulations of empowering women in the society.

The concert will roll under theme ‘Building Positive Masculinity Under and Post COVID-19’.

Men at work for Gender Equality Campaign is a United Nations Women initiative adapted from the Global ‘HeForShe’ Movement that recognizes men and boys as powerful influencers to promote gender equality and the empowerment of women, according to Dr. Maxime Houinato.

It’s also clearly noted that the Men at Work for Gender equality and women empowerment’s booked media campaign will run between 2020 to 2023.

The Campaign is led by High Level Network of Positive Masculinity.

Day one of the Men at work initiative was thoroughly a deep conversation with contributions that are part of the opening remarks.

The aim to establish why it is critical to associate men to efforts to achieve Gender Equality, and eliminate patriarchy and toxic masculinity was also discussed.

On the second day, it was the official launch of the cause.

It was agreed that contributions that are part of the opening remarks on Day 1, will the aim to explore, between culture, faith & positive legislation, how can men contribute to sustainable social justice in the household.

The event will be broadcasted live on local TV channel NBS TV and on the Men at work for Gender Equality social media and YouTube on Sunday, 2-5PM.
