Musician Bobi Wine has been awarded with the vocational service award from the Rotary Club of Entebbe.
“After a series of consultations with the board, the vocational service directorate went onto a hunt for this year’s vocational service award recipient. Basing on the findings, the directorate nominated Bobi Wine (Robert Kyagulanyi) as this year’s Vocational awardee and consequently barked by the club assembly,” read a statement from the Club.
Bobi Wine covered all the Rotary’s six areas of focus which are; Promoting peace, Fighting disease, Providing clean water, Saving mothers and children, Supporting education and Growing local economies hence the award.
The ‘Dembe’ singer accepted the award saying that he felt honoured and humbled. “Thank you Rotary Club Entebbe. I am honored by your award of man of the season. I am glad to be of service to the society and being recognized for it, Is a bonus.”
Recently, Bobi Wine revealed that he doesnt sing to win awards. “I don’t sing to win awards but I sing to educate, entertain and to deliver message to the public. If an award is for that, then I will accept it.”
