Uganda’s renowned female singing group, Blu*3, marked a significant milestone with a mesmerizing performance at Skyz Hotel – Naguru, celebrating their 15-year journey during the glamorous event named “Blu3Reunion” last night.
At the reunion, the trio expressed sincere appreciation for the pivotal role played by their former manager Steve Jean in shaping their musical careers during the early 2000s. The group acknowledged Steve Jean as the driving force behind their success, recognizing his role in nurturing their talents from the outset.
In heartfelt words, Blu*3 stated, “We can’t commence this show without acknowledging the person who initiated it, the person who mentored us. We owe our identity to the remarkable individual named Steve Jean. Steve believed in us from the very beginning when we were just starting out. We genuinely appreciate it; thank you.“
The much-anticipated Blu*3 Reunion concert was officially announced during the Thursday night event, with a scheduled date of March 8, 2024, at Serena Hotel.
Founded by prominent Ugandan music and events producer Steve Jean in April 2004, Blu3 originated after securing victory on the Coca Cola Popstars TV show.
The name Blu*3 is derived to represent “3 Beautiful (or Black) Ladies from Uganda.” The original lineup comprised Jackie Chandiru, Lilian Mbabazi, and Cinderella Sanyu (Cindy), who was later succeeded by Mya Baganda.
Following their triumph in the competition, Blu*3 went on to produce the albums “Hitaji” (2004) and “Burn” (2007), solidifying their presence in the music industry.
