Very often than not, we are confronted with tales of people gambling themselves into oblivion. A section of the public has been quick to throw the blame at the various sports betting houses.

However, Arnold Ayoma, the Games and Production Manager at Gal’s Sports Betting, one of the leading betting firms in Uganda advises that one should only gamble what they can afford to lose.

He also explains that the firm has a strict policy regarding who is allowed to bet; no under 18 year olds for instance are allowed to access the terminals.

“We regularly hold talks with our clients, advising them on how to be more productive. This is because we know that it is not just about betting, but also about leading a responsible lifestyle,” he says.

Adding, “We also have a Corporate Social Responsibility program whose sole aim is to empower communities through various undertakings. We mainly target the youth with our initiatives because they are the future leaders.”

Gal’s Sports Betting operates a unique low margin-high volume model that enables the company to offer the best odds, services and highest betting limits in town (only firm that pays a maximum of UGX150m).

The firm’s online platform currently has over 5,000 active users, showing a growing interest from mostly the corporate world.

Having operated in Uganda for over 5 years, Gal’s Sports Betting is spreading its wings to all corners of the country.

With a retail deployment of 60 outlets throughout Uganda, Gal’s Sports Betting is not only one of the leading betting companies, but also the one offering the widest range of gaming products mix portfolio.

The UEFA Champion’s League clash between Barcelona and Arsenal for instance had over 50 options to choose from.

Ayoma, adds that in addition to football, rugby, tennis, Keno, Spin and win, virtual games and live matches, the betting house launched another game; ‘Lucky Six’, a number-based game aimed at giving customers variety.

“At Gal’s Sports Betting, our aim is to give our clients the choice to pick what they like. This explains the several products we have on offer at all our outlets. Lucky Six is an exciting game that will be played throughout the day, with instant pay outs,” he said.

To give more convenience to its clients, Gal’s Sports Betting avails free internet access to on-line betting guides and has large TV screens at all its retail outlets for customers to follow their favorite matches.

The emergence of Sports Betting firms has demystified the notion that gambling is a favorite pastime for only the rich. Today, just about anyone can gamble given the numerous outlets. Several young people have taken on sports betting with a lot of enthusiasm. It has become more like a source of employment as a visit to any sports betting center will reveal.
