BetOn donates training gear to Kyengera Boxing Club

BetOn Uganda has donated training gear to Kyengera Boxing Club.

Local betting company, BetOn Uganda has donated training gear to Kyengera Boxing Club. The items which included boxing gloves, punching mitts, head gear and training kits among others were delivered to the club’s training grounds  in Kyengera on Thursday.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Lule Herbert, the Sales and Product manager at BetOn said that the sport of boxing is not well appreciated locally which has hindered its rise to prominence and thus pledged that their company would focus on supporting and promoting boxing across the country.

“As BetOn Uganda, we decided to offer support and promote local boxing because the sport has not garnered enough attention. We want to help uplift local boxing talent,” Lule said.

“We will continue to visit different boxing clubs across the country to offer our support,” he added.

Kyengera Boxing Club has been in existence for seven year and is currently home to 170 boxers. It is registered under the Uganda Boxing Federation and affiliated to the International Boxing Federation.

Hajji Juma Nsubuga, the Club’s chairman and coach, extended his gratitude to BetOn for the donation saying it will be a big boost towards grooming boxing talent.

“We are very happy for the boxing gear. This will be useful during our sparring and gym sessions,” said Juma Nsubuga. “With this, we hope to build the next generation of champions.”

The handover ceremony was followed by a sparring session as the boxers tried on the new training gear.
