The Facebook verification craze has taken over Ugandans especially the celebrities. From the time specific celebrity pages were verified, every artiste has been doing whatever possible to have their page verified by Facebook as the official page.
Pages for several celebs like Desire Luzinda, Flavia Tumusiime, Viboyo, Eddy Kenzo, Juliana Kanyomozi and Radio & Weasel were verified recently. This left out some big industry powers like Bebe Cool and Chameleone.
Yesterday, Bebe Cool’s page was verified by Facebook. Gagamel fans went crazy on Social Media saying that this is because he is a “big size musician”. “Even Facebook fears Bebe Cool,” they said.
This left Chameleone’s fans in the corner as they had nothing to say for themselves. One Gagamel fan was heard saying “Chameleone must be crying, he is the only so called big artiste whose page has never been verified.”
It should be remembered that Bebe Cool commands the largest army online. His Gagamel army has managed to get him fans far and wide giving him the most active celebrity Facebook page in the land. His fans group was even nominated in the HMA awards.
The verification comes at a time when the singer had promised his Social Media following a new video that adheres to international standards. The Video is for his latest song, Everywhere I go. Fans have been waiting for 22 days for the much hyped video.
Facebook is currently only accepting verification requests from Pages that represent celebrities, public figures, sports teams, media and entertainment. Requests can be submitted on their website.
