It is now not news that our very own music doctor and Leone Island boss Jose Chameleone was nominated in the World Music Awards and the 2013 BET Nominees GoodLyf nominated for World’s Best Group Category in the same awards. What is clear now is that rival music camps have started working together to see to it that Uganda makes it’s make at this international award ceremony.
It is the level of solidarity that artistes and fans in Uganda have shown for these nominees that has left us amazed. Ugandans are not known to always support their rivals but this time round, beef has been put aside and support for Radio and Weasel plus Dr Jose Chameleone emphasized by major industry players and their followers.
The Gagamel phamily fans have rallied behind Radio and Weasel which is understandable after the battle of champions that saw Bebe Cool and the dynamic duo burying the hatchet. But to support Chameleone as the Gagamel family was unheard of until the nominees list for the World Music Awards was announced. Bebe Cool’s Gagamel phamily members have taken it upon themselves to ask whoever cares to listen to log onto the awards website and cast a vote for Jose Chameleone of the Badilisha and Tubonge fame and Radio and Weasel of the Amaaso fame.
Forget the usual awards were nominees in the same category are never above 10, the Badilisha singer is up against 340 nominees in the World Best Male Artiste category and the Good life boys are will be tussling it out for with 240 other group in the World’s best group category. We are made to understand that 12 of these groups are from mother land Africa.
