Musician Bebe Cool has opened up about his biggest concert ever and further revealed why he lets people download his music for free.
In an interview with TAP Magazine, the “Love You Everday” hit maker whose career spans almost 20 years revealed he has performed on several stages around the globe but none was as memorable as the Mandela concert. He confessed that was his biggest concert to-date. “I’ve travelled countries, I’ve done concerts, but my biggest is the Mandela concert at Hyde park London,” Bebe Cool revealed.
Bebe Cool continued to reveal that he no longer releases music albums because it does not make business sense since local musicians don’t get any money from CD sales. He revealed that the ‘piracy problem’ has really eaten deep into local musicians’ earnings and they can now only earn from holding several concerts.
He said; “I won’t tell you I’m on iTunes and even if you see my name there, whoever is selling my music is not paying me. Why, because the industry back home we haven’t really looked at selling our music that way! We earn money through concerts. Piracy is 100% and if you try to fight it, your music won’t move. If i don’t let you burn my music, then you won’t know my music here in the diaspora! That means i won’t be able to come do no gig!!”
