Gone are the days when Bebe Cool would shoot his videos in an old warehouse in Ntinda, the Gagamel boss has upgraded to working with international production companies.

The singer who recently shot his Love you everyday video abroad went back at it again when he shot another brand new video Everywhere I go in South Africa. And now he has decided to secure a spot in the big league and shoot a video in the USA.

Yes, Bebe Cool is going to shoot his next big video in Hollywood according to our sources. The singer who recently completed his “Size Nene” song which is not off his new album Go Mama told our source that he will fly out in two months’ time.

“Bebe Cool is going to shoot a video in the US for the first time. He will fly out in April and he is already in talks with American directors to see how he can pull off a great video that will wow Uganda and the world at large,” said our source.

The singer who will release his Go Mama album this year, seems to be dedicated to producing quality music for his fans. This notwithstanding, his recent release, ‘Everywhere I go’ was rejected by international channels where he had hoped to premiere it. “The video just couldn’t cut it, he wanted MTV Base, Channel O, Trace Urban, Sound City and Hip TV to premiere it all at once. Lucky for him, the company which shot the video, God Father Productions, secured him a premiere on MTV but being the big headed guy that he is, he turned it down after the others rejected his video,” said an insider at Gagamel.

His video which was supposed to be released to the world on New Year’s day stayed on his laptop for over 20 days as he made contact with the TV channels. When he failed to secure a deal, he decided to premiere it on YouTube for his online fans, NTV Uganda for his uptown fans and Bukedde for the general mass market.

It is no doubt Bebe Cool is pulling up his socks at this time in the industry when every artiste is struggling to have a good video out. A few months ago, his Leone Island counterpart, Chameleone, moved all the way to Karamoja to shoot his Wale Wale video. The video managed to get airplay on Trace Urban TV.

What remains to be seen is whether more Ugandan artistes will take the route Bebe Cool has chosen in order to have more Ugandan videos out there for international channels to play.

Just recently Ugandans under the #WeWantFairAirplay online campaign, petitioned Channel O among other stations to consider playing more East African music on their West African music dominated channels.

We are watching these developments for you, and we will keep you posted.
