Musician Bebe Cool has revealed why local musicians have failed to compete fairly on the continent. According to the Gagamel boss, East African musicians have failed to compete favorably, even with a boom of local platforms promoting their music, because of lack of an “engine”.
“I’ve been doing music for the last 25 years based in Uganda and witnessed so many come and go, so much good and bad but mainly I have witnessed the input of the East Africans to see that our music industry becomes competitive and is recognised worldwide. For that to happen, so many studios, TV stations, radio stations, promotion companies, management companies have been introduced to East Africa and the music industry moved but it lacked something or what I would call an ‘ENGINE’.” He noted.
However, not to despair, the singer says the “engine” is finally here. “Ladies and gentlemen, allow me to introduce to u a channel 323 Trace Muziki #mzikichemchem coming soon on all decoders. Now East African music can compete fairly in Africa. I call upon all musicians in East Africa to embrace this ‘engine’ for our music to even move more.” He added.
