Truth is, Bebe Cool’s videos were amateurish for a longtime he has been in the industry. The audios were great, but the videos were, what can I say? Lackluster. Poor. You have to admit. I don’t know where the problem was; could it be the directors and guys behind the cameras? Or Bebe Cool himself? Whoever it was, the videos seemed to have been shot by a Primary Two dropout. But he surprisingly turned the corner and uplifted himself up with Love You Every Day. It was a fine piece of work. It was well-crafted. It was the best of Bebe Cool’s. Much as it lacked a gripping storyline, at least, the pictorial was perfect, magical even. And it was creative. I love creative videos; I loathe clichés.
His new video Byebyo is not miles away from Love You Every Day. Here, he changed screws a bit. Just a bit. And the songs are completely different. Byebyo is totally dancehall. High tempo. High pitched. Same old husky Bebe Cool, King of the Dancehall, comes to fore on this. It is a great song. I love the energy. The video was shot by Sasha Vybz, another fine lad with a keen eye for creativity. Much as he still had much more he could have done with it, but what he did is enough to elevate it. Shot in some dilapidated place, gazetted even, Byebyo is quite a good one, more especially if you are the kind who likes them a bit rowdy. It gets rowdy at some point. Girls shake their derrieres. It seemed to have been shot at night and Sasha Vybz outworked himself to smartly play with the lights. It is a great video. Gagamel fans can go in the sand and play.
