HiPipo Music awards organisers have finally addressed the growing concerns among local music fans that Bebe Cool could have a stake in them after he swept the awards in previous editions.
The awards which were started in 2013 to appreciate and promote Ugandan music talent in all regions of the country have seen the “Love You Everyday” hit maker dominate the successive editions, raising discontent among music fans.
Some music fans have gone further to accuse the award organisers of doctoring the results. However, the organisers have rubbished all these claims asserting that the winners are decided by the fans.
Speaking at a press conference held yesterday, HiPipo CEO Innocent Kawooya debunked the rumours saying the results from all the voting platforms are well audited and the award given to deserving winners.
“HiPipo Music awards are not ‘owned’ by Bebe Cool. Like our theme has always been – ‘The fans Decide’, it is the fans that vote for the winners. The winner is always the one who gets most votes,” Innocent noted.
The fourth edition of HiPipo Music awards is slated for this Saturday, 30th January at the Kampala Serena Hotel.
