Singer Moses Ssali aka Bebe Cool is fuming after his son Alpha Thierry Ssali missed sitting his S.4 examinations this year.

Alpha was part of the Uganda Hippos squad that represented the country at the just concluded Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) U-20 tournament in Mauritania. The Hippos lost to Ghana in the finals.

The ‘Surrender’ singer has lashed out at the government on social media over the unfair treatment of his son and 7 other Hippos team members who missed the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations that commenced earlier this month as the group was away on national duty.

“Really big disappointment with the Uganda government and the Ministry of Education and Sports in particular on how they have handled the issue of missing Senior Four (S4) final exams by the young talented football players who have been/are on continental duty with the U-20 and U-17 Uganda National teams,” Bebe Cool stated on Facebook.

He further called out the government over rising unemployment.

“It’s unfortunate that this government has never had plans to support each and every educated person by giving them a job after their tertiary education. So I believe the youths who push their talents to turn them into a lifetime career/self-employment would be seen as an advantage, hence supported at all costs,” Bebe added.

He concluded by pleading with the Education Minister to find a way of supporting national team players so that they are not left behind in their studies.

“I call upon the Minister of Education to review this issue urgently. Call the parents of the involved children and forge a way forward so that next time this happens, there’s a sort of programme to support national team players and by this our players won’t lose out on education,” he concluded.

We will keep you posted.
