Former Presidential Press Secretary Tamale Mirundi has said that Ugandan musicians will not influence the 2016 Presidential elections at all. The controversial orator revealed that Bebe Cool and his peers who have been hired to rally support for the President will only eat money and not deliver any tangible results.
According to Tamale, the musicians have no influence when it comes to Politics and using them in political matters is a waste of time. “Let me tell you, only Walukaga’s music can influence people on political matters,” Mirundi started. “Most of these musicians don’t have any influence here. They are always in scandal over scandal, they chase them from houses for not paying rent. They took them to Luwero and they didn’t bring a difference. There are people who lie to the President and steal money through musicians,” he said.
“They have no influence at all. Bebe Cool and his team have no political influence in Uganda’s Political arena at all,” Mirundi said on NBS Extra.
“Where does Kanyomozi for example get the credibility to rally fans? Are those singers credible? Get people like Joanita Kawalya not these clowns,” Mirundi added.
Recently, President Museveni commended local artistes and members of the entertainment industry and encouraged them to be more creative and use their works to promote the African culture. He revealed that Ugandans have talent and decided to open up a sacco for them making an initial deposit of 400 million shillings.
Consequently, musicians flanked the president during the launch of his manifesto early this week at Kololo Independence grounds. They are slated to travel with him throughout the county as he rallies for votes from Ugandans.
We will keep you posted.
