At the recently concluded Coffee Marathon event in Uganda, Tanzanian superstar Diamond Platnumz reportedly earned Shs.700 million for his performance — a figure that sparked mixed reactions among some Ugandan artists.

Veteran singer Bebe Cool responded to the complaints with a strong message, urging fellow musicians to focus on improving their value and negotiation skills.
“It’s your negotiation power and the values you present for your customers’ money,” Bebe Cool stated during an interview on NTV Uganda.

He explained that artists must understand their worth and deliver services that justify high payments.
According to him, the industry rewards those who can market themselves well and meet the expectations of event organizers.

Bebe Cool’s remarks come at a time when many local artists are demanding better recognition and pay in their own country.
However, his statement serves as a reminder that consistent branding, performance quality, and audience engagement are key factors in securing top deals.
Diamond Platnumz, known for his energetic performances and wide fan base across Africa, was the headline act at the Coffee Marathon, an event aimed at promoting Uganda’s coffee sector.
Bebe Cool’s advice has sparked discussions in the music industry, with many agreeing that improving professional standards may open doors to bigger opportunities for Ugandan artists in the future.
