Bobi-Mr. G

By Ian Nkera Ford

If you thought Bobi Wine’s Ugandan-Jamaican connect was a one-off, well think again. Bobi Wine and Mr. G seem to have struck a music connection and have another song for it and this time it is called GIRLS; a follow up to fast rising club anthem Clean and Out.Thats Bobi Wine for you. He is very enthusiastic about his projects and will go ahead to see them flourish. Did I hear someone say he is going INTERNATIONAL? Well, not as yet, but he is not settling anytime soon, trust me. This is a statement ladies and gentlemen.

Like I said, the song is called Girls and they go on and on about loving girls from all walks of life. Textbook dancehall song this one. Ofcourse it is. What else did you expect? Anyway back to the song, Mr G is comfortable on the beat as expected but you tend to get worried about the ghetto president before listening to his verses. You get the feeling that Bobi Wine will get schooled but he wasn’t. He is firm on that beat and does it some justice.

Thank God Mr. Wine doesn’t take us though that “Kasikonda” talk. I am almost certain I wasn’t the only one irritated by that line in Clean and Out. He belts out some cheeky lines in English and Luganda talking about this chic he is obsessed about. Mr G does the same in patois and gives the song that international appeal the Ghetto president forever craves

In general, this song keeps Bobi Wine’s international career dream alive. Nothing unique about it but its pumping beat is going to keep some people on floor. Those people mocking Bobi Wine about never being international will start watching their words.
