Over the weekend, people from Bunyoro and Tooro came together to have fun and celebrate their culture. This was during the Kwegonza Avenue event which was held at the UMA Grounds in Lugogo.

The event was sponsored by Pilsner Lager, a brand of the Uganda Breweries Limited, which joined the celebrations with great excitement by setting up an immersive cultural village that became a big attraction during the event.

Designed to showcase the rich traditions and customs of the Bunyoro and Tooro communities, the village offered a variety of engaging activities. Visitors enjoyed traditional music and dance performances, tried their hand at local crafts as they took photos. The atmosphere was electric, filled with the sounds of drumming, singing, and laughter.

Edgar Kihumuro the Pilsner Lager Brand Manager, explained that, “our cultural village was designed to bring people together, allowing them to experience and appreciate the traditions that make our country unique. We are committed to supporting and preserving Uganda’s cultural legacy through events like this.”

As the sun began to set, the stage was set for thrilling performances by their own Douglas Byaruhanda aka Big Doug, and rapper Ruyonga. The sensational Winnie Nwagi closed the evening with her energetic show fired up the crowd, blending modern beats with traditional rhythms, and getting everyone on their feet.

It was a day of unity, celebration and pride, perfectly representing the spirit of Kwegonza Avenue.
