Lawyers are the main item in Uganda at the moment as the demand for their services is hyping past every day.
Lawsuits by different counterparts are constantly being raised especially in the entertainment industry than never before.
Latest from their docket of work, is famous events promoter and businessman, Balaam Barugahara who has announced intentions of dragging New Vision New Vision printing and publishing company limited in courts of law over falsehood articles made against him.
The famous Museveni and NRM preacher, has reached-out to his lawyers “Isabirye Company & Advocates” to formulate a legal notice to the news publication firm.
According to the notice, the Lawyers on the instructions of their client, Balaam Barugahara, they have addressed the chief editor New Vision printing and publishing company limited on the intention to sue cum cease and desist notice.
The Lawyers note that, on the 3rd day of July via “The Kampala Sun” newspaper, one of New Vision’s publications, published an article, under the screening headline “Balaam harasses Uganda Cranes over Sevo cash”.
They believe, the full article details of the article are within the company’s knowledge.
It’s clearly understood that the article purported to suggest that their client is muscling cranes players for a share of the money allegedly paid by His Excellency the President of the Republic of Uganda to Uganda Cranes.
Needless to say, that the publication was false, baseless and not with any truth but has none the less damaged the reputation of their client in a manner that is irreparable, as when construed and contextualized in its natural, and ordinary meaning.
Innuendo, said article is understood to mean and to suggest that Mr. Balaam Barugahara, is a criminal, an amoral and indefensible man, etc.
New Vision’s said publication has had the effect of impeaching their client’s integrity, demeaning of his reputation in his capacities as, a businessman and family man in the eyes of reasonable members of the society.
Also, it has gravely lowered his reputation in the estimation of right thinking members of society, in all his business and incidental connections in Uganda, East Africa, Africa and the world at large, to the extent of him being viewed as a fraudster and extortionist.
Consequently, their client has suffered emotional pain, aguish and suffering has been put to great odium, embarrassment, anxiety, grief, mental stress and ridicule.
In addition, to causing him to limit his interactions with his peers, contemporaries, business patterns, and colleagues, in order for him to avoid the contempt and ridicule that he suffers when amongst them.
This emotional suffering has caused him to suffer stress and affected his moods and behavior in a depressing manner.
Therefore, Balaam instructs them to demand for an immediate apology for the falsehoods that the company published against him, retract the article.
He further seeks a compensation for the pain that New Vision caused with now estimated fee of the sum of Uganda shillings 1,000,000,000 (Uganda shillings one Billion).
The news publication company has been given a grace period of three days or else further instructions are to take the appropriate legal action against it.
