Azawi has finally released her much-anticipated debut album dubbed “African Music”. African Music premiered globally via major music streaming platforms on Saturday.
Before the premiere, the Swangz Avenue-signed artiste held two listening sessions which were graced by select fans, influencers, deejays, media personalities, and other industry associates.
She expressed her gratitude for the massive support and love she has received on her music journey since breaking out in 2020.
“I am beyond grateful to everyone that has been a part of my music journey. I have been able to record a lot of great content within a year and eight months and I hope you all love it,” Azawi said.
“African Music” is a 16-track album. The love theme takes prominence on the album which is also sprinkled with some inspirational and feel-good songs.
It is on songs like “Gimme”, “Craving Your Heart” and “Bamututte” that Azawi croons about love. She switches things up with an A-Pass collaboration on “Face Me” who brings a reggae feel to the album.
On the title track, “African Music”, she pays tribute to some African music stars like Fally Ipupa from DRC, Wizkid from Nigeria, and Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz among others.
Other singers that feature on the album are; Eddy Kenzo (on Nkuchekele), Benon Mugumbya (on Thankful), Fik Fameica (on Majje) and Janzi Band (on Loving You is Easy).
She worked with Steve Keys, Michael Fingers and Wasafi Records’ Lizer Classic on the production who deliver a diverse African sound, from cultural Ugandan sounds, to Afrobeat and a dash of Amapiano.
Azawi wrote (some in part) all the songs on the album.
