Swangz Avenue’s rising star Azawi, born Zawedde Priscilla, is on a mission to elevate the Ugandan music industry to new heights. In a recent interview, she shared her aspirations, including a dream collaboration with Nigerian sensation Burna Boy.

Having entered the music scene officially in 2019 under Swangz Avenue’s management, Azawi’s journey began with a background in writing and traditional dance. Despite her undeniable talent, she struggled to gain recognition due to financial constraints in the early days.

Since signing with Swangz Avenue, Azawi has delivered chart-topping hits and collaborated with both local and international artists. However, her ambitions extend beyond personal success; she aims to propel Ugandan music onto the global stage.

Acknowledging the abundance of talent in Uganda, Azawi lamented the industry’s struggle to transcend national borders. With a determination to change this narrative, she sees herself as a star for transformation.

Expressing her admiration for Burna Boy’s artistry, Azawi revealed her desire to collaborate with the Afriecan Giant.

I wish to work with Burna Boy at some point. And I am talented. I know with that opportunity, my dream will come true and doors will be open for Ugandan music industry to go places,”

Azawi

She believes such an opportunity would not only fulfill a personal dream but also pave the way for fellow Ugandan artists to gain international recognition.
