Priscilla Zawedde, aka Azawi, was signed into Swangz Avenue in 2019 and was officially unveiled on 31st October that same year.
In January 2020, she released her first single dabbed “Quinamino” that officially introduced her to the Ugandan music scene under the same record label.
Azawi reveals that Kusseim, a music writer and producer, sparked this amazing process when he shared one of the songs she had written and sang to one Mr. Julius Kyazze, from Swangz Avenue. After several interrogations of whether it was her that wrote the beautiful piece, Azawi was contacted to come to Swangz and be the sole writer for Swangz Avenue artists.
In an interview by Mr. HENRIE on Galaxy TV, Azawi says that this was a very big opportunity to change both her life and family by providing better for each one of them, including her mother.
In her words, “Honestly, this was a very good chance for me to work with a big brand, and sell to them my music. Kusseim and I made other demos, which included Lo Fit, Repeat It, and a few others and sent them to Mr. Julius.”
She also added that she received a call from Mr. Julius, who later asked her to meet at Swangz Avenue offices. It is from that meeting that she got to be asked personal questions and later retained for her unique voice and talent.
