Azawi has openly criticized Eddy Kenzo’s leadership as the President of the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) again, accusing him of failing to effectively champion the interests of artists in the country.

In her remarks, Azawi questioned Kenzo’s impact on the music industry, particularly his efforts toward advocating for copyright amendments.

“Eddy Kenzo seems not to know what he is doing, and he hasn’t helped enough in the music industry,” Azawi stated.

She alleged that Kenzo is being manipulated by the government, suggesting that he has not fully understood the responsibilities of his position.

“I feel sorry for my guy Eddy because he seems not to be aware of what he got into. The government cannot allow him to push for the copyright amendment because they know it will bring a lot of implications, not just to the music industry but to all content creators,” Azawi added.

Azawi also downplayed the value of Kenzo’s collaborative efforts with other artists, asking, “Which artists have truly benefited from his collaborations? Where are they now?”

She argued that Kenzo’s efforts have not translated into tangible benefits for the wider music community.

Azawi further criticized the indirect communication between artists and President Museveni, calling for a direct dialogue.

“We want to have a personal connection with the President instead of sending us representatives like Eddy Kenzo to talk to us,” Azawi emphasized.
