An actor has been “accidentally” shot dead during the filming of a music video for a hip hop band in Australia.

Police said the man was in his 20s and was shot in the chest during filming at a bar in the city of Brisbane.

The managers of Australian hip hop group Bliss n Eso later confirmed that the video was being filmed for the band.

“We are able to confirm the death of a person occurred today at the filming of a Bliss n Eso music clip,” the band’s management said.

“The band were not on site at the time.  The video production crew and our team are currently working with the police in their investigation and we are unable to provide further comment at this time.”

The Sydney-based group is one of the nation’s most successful hip hop acts and has had two number one albums.

It is believed the video was for a new song called Friend Like You from the band’s next album, which is due to be released in March.

Police are investigating but believe the shooting was “accidental” and have described it as a workplace incident.
