KCCA vs Express

By James Robert Kayindi

It was an entertaining evening as the Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) headed out for match day with five games played.

Azam TV cameras were at the heart of Kampala city as the Red Eagles of Express fc shared the spoils with the Kasasiro Boys of KCCA fc in a one-all draw at Nakivubo Stadium.

The visitors took an early 9th minute lead when Ayub Kizza headed home from Sulaiman Mutyaba’s curling free kick.

Nick named the new Phillip Omondi, Muzamiru Mutyaba picked up a late equalizer for the hosts in the 87th minute to salvage a point for Jennifer Musisi’ boys.

In the Jinja derby, newly promoted side, Jinja Municipal Council Hippos football club made headlines after they humiliated the Painters of Sadolin Paints 3-0 at Kakindu Stadium.

Midfielder Herbert Kakande put the Hippos in the lead after 21 minutes of the game before Mustapha Mugoya claimed a second half double to seal a 3-0 win over Sadolin who have now lost their two opening games. They lost 3-0 to KCCA last week on Saturday.

At Mwerere stadium in Matugga, home side Bright Stars Football Club shocked SC Villa with a 1-0 defeat.

A first half strike from Anthony Bongole was enough to secure victory for Uganda’s Tony Pulis, Fred Kajoba as they ferociously fended off an attacking Jogoo side to maintain their lead.

Elsewhere, the Kavumba derby between Police fc and Soana fc ended in a stalemate. 1-1 was the final score for the two sides.

At the Mehta stadium in Lugazi, summer recruit Godfrey Villa Oromchan netted as Uganda Revenue Authority football club condemned BUL fc to a 1-0 defeat.
