Man made money and money made man mad. In the Ugandan context, Museveni gave money to musicians at the recent Tubonga Nawe dinner, and the money has made musicians mad.
The latest news that we are gathering from the gossip corridors is that Ugandan artistes are up in arms against each other after President Museveni donated a whopping 400 million shillings to their Sacco.
According to our sources, there is word that only the twelve musicians who entertained the president and made a song for him will take a share of the money. The source says that the twelve were very annoyed with all those musicians who didn’t turn up at the event and want a share of the money. However, the same source reveals that the President was very clean that the money was for all musicians and not the twelve.
Another source told us that junior celebs are afraid that the money could have been handed over to the big artistes leaving them no share.
This has brought a war of words as celebs decide on how to get their share of the money. Other celebs think that Bebe Cool thinks of only himself and are prepared to fight him until he shares the money with them according to some of our sources in the industry.
Fans are on the other hand very disappointed with the way celebs are behaving. “I think they should be ashamed of themselves especially Pastor Bugembe who even abandoned his church to go and fight for 400 million from the President. There is a problem with our industry and it needs to be rectified soon or we won’t have any real celebs standing by the end of this,” said a Uganda music fan.
