Works to lay artificial turf at the Phillip Omondi Stadium, Lugogo, home to ten time league champions Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) will begin next week according to the club officials.
The work should have commenced back in March but there was delay in the delivery of equipment which are now available to get the work started in a program that is expected to run for at least three months.
“The experts from FIFA are already in the country and hopefully work will start not later than Monday next week,” said one of the club officials.
The turf laying programme at Lugogo is being carried out under the FIFA fourth Goal Project for Uganda through FUFA.
In less than a fortnight, the 2015/16 season will be kicking off (on August 21st, 2015) and according to KCCA Chief Executive Officer David Tamale, the Kasasiro Boys will now shift their training sessions to Kampala Rugby grounds while Nakivubo War Memorial stadium at the heart of Kampala is what they will use as a home ground.
“For the meantime, we’ll use Nakivubo stadium as the home ground when the league kicks off but we’ll relocate to Phillip Omondi stadium when work is complete. Training shifts to Kampala Rugby grounds famously known as ‘Legends,” Tamale revealed to Airtel football.
