Arsene Wenger has confirmed Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere and Mikel Arteta are out for the next week, meaning the injured trio will miss Arsenal’s Champions League match against Galatasaray on Wednesday.
All three are likely to be absent for Arsenal’s Premier League clash with Chelsea next Sunday after picking up injuries during the 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates.
Wenger said: ‘I don’t know how long they will be out but they will be out next week. I think Ramsey is a hamstring (injury), and Arteta is a calf. Wilshere is an ankle.’
Wenger admitted he does not know whether Wilshere will return for Chelsea, but said: ‘The two other players are out for Chelsea, for sure.
‘Suddenly, we are short because if we lost three players today, and let’s not forget we had already two out on long-term (Olivier Giroud and Mathieu Debuchy) plus (Theo) Walcott, that’s six. (Abou) Diaby is not ready, seven. It starts to become a worry.’
Asked if he was worried by the amount of injuries Ramsey and Wilshere suffer, Wenger replied: ‘Not constantly. Wilshere – if you see the incident, he has been tackled and brought his ankle over.
‘Ramsey – yes, it’s a concern. He had a good rest this week, I didn’t play him against Southampton on Tuesday night, it’s a surprise because he’s usually a resistant boy.’
