Angelina Jolie said she was relieved the child abuse investigation into estranged husband Brad Pitt was over but insisted she “had to take action for the health of the family”.
Pitt, 52, was probed over an alleged altercation with son Maddox on a plane in September. Days later Angelina filed for divorce.
The Los Angeles social services probe decided the claims were unfounded.
Yesterday a spokeswoman for the actress said: “Angelina felt she had to take action for the health of the family and is relieved that the Department of Children and Family Services is now satisfied the safeguards are in place that will allow the children to heal.”
UN refugee envoy Angelina and Brad have agreed to continue a temporary order giving her primary custody of their six children with Brad granted supervised visits.
Permanent arrangements will be finalised as part of the divorce for which she cited “irreconcilable differences”.
Angelina, 41, wants full custody of Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and eight-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne. Brad is seeking joint custody.
Earlier this week her spokesperson confirmed he was allowed “therapeutic visits” adding: “A legal agreement was signed by both sides over a week ago.”
As part of the investigation, Brad, Angelina and some of their children were interviewed along with witnesses on the private jet. He completed two voluntary drug tests, which came back negative.
