PAM award winner, Angela Kalule of the ”katitiki” fame is in an ecstatic mood after her band, K’Angie made it to the grand finale of Nile Gold’s Last band standing competition following a series of overwhelming performances seeing off Democratic Republic of Congo’s lingala-Matonge band, Magic horns and finally edging out The Most Wanted band in the semifinals.
The last standing band competition is an initiative by Nile Gold to help promote live band music which is inherent in the taste of their customers mainly corporates.
The competition attracted 12 live bands including old timers, Percussion Discussion which disappointed their fans failing to make it through the group stages. The competition is in a league of its own where 2 bands are drawn against each other as they entertain crowds free of charge. The most voted band of the night emerges winner and progresses to the next round.
The shows are held at selected bars, pubs and hotels around the city. The winner will walk away with UgX 50m, a recording contract and new band equipments.
