PhatFest, an annual gospel concert, is returning for its 9th edition.
Hosted by Power FM, an urban christian radio station, it will be headlined by American singer and song writer Jeremy Camp who will perform alongside a host of local gospel artistes including Wilson Bugembe, D. Reign and Sandra Suubi among others.
Addressing media on Wednesday afternoon, Jeremy Camp expressed excitement at being in Uganda for the first time. “It is an honour to be in Uganda for the first time. This is one of the places where I got asked to come and I felt like God was leading me here. And when God is leading you in a certain direction, you know He is going to do spectacular things.” He noted.
The much anticipated event will be held under the theme “Love at 20” to kick off the station’s 20th anniversary celebrations which will then be followed by a series of other events planned throughout the year to mark the milestone.
“20 years ago Power FM was born and this is one of the ways we are giving back to our listeners and the community for their continued support over the years.” Richard Senkwale, the station’s Managing Director said. “We decided to have PhatFest in early January so that we can start 20th anniversary celebrations in an exciting way.”
This year’s edition which has been organised in partnership with Speaking Louder Ministries will be free of charge. It will take place this Saturday, 13th January at Lugogo Cricket Oval.
