We thought it was indestructible but the ruthless axe of Fox has finally fallen on hit talent show American Idol.
The current season is due to end later this week as another winner is crowned but the next season, the show’s fifteenth, will be its last.
The judging panel of Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr are all confirmed to be returning for the show’s swansong series – let’s hope they can pull a massive star out of the bag for the big finale!
At its height, American Idol pulled in a massive audience, often reaching 36 million viewers but over the last few seasons its fan-base has been decreasing substantially.
