Allan Toniks has publicly called out media personality Sheilah Gashumba for her continued support of foreign music at the expense of local artists.

The criticism comes in response to a recent social media post by Sheilah, in which she praised Tanzanian star Diamond Platnumz, claiming he deserved special treatment at the Coffee Marathon Concert due to his impressive branding. She went on to say that no Ugandan artist could match his level.

Toniks did not hold back in his response, taking to social media to express his disappointment with Sheilah’s remarks. He accused her of consistently promoting Nigerian and South African music in Uganda, while doing little to uplift local talent.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank @SheilahGashumba for helping sooo much to support & build Nigerian & South African music in UG,” Toniks wrote sarcastically.

Sheilah Gashumba Says Branding Is Why Diamond Platnumz May Never Collaborate With Ugandan Artists

“We appreciate all efforts. We are forever grateful & appreciative for the awesome work. Uganda owes you a debt for the contribution to the growth of the arts & entertainment of other countries into Uganda—the country you call home… While putting down Ugandans. #sellout”

Toniks’ post has sparked debate online, with some users agreeing that local celebrities should prioritize supporting Ugandan creatives, while others argue that international artists set higher standards that should be acknowledged.
