Alien Skin directed strong criticism toward singer-turned-politician Bobi Wine, advising him to stop seeking support from musicians in his political endeavours.
Alien Skin questioned why Bobi Wine, now a prominent figure in Ugandan politics, continues to look to the music industry for backing.
In his statements, Alien Skin expressed confusion over Bobi Wine’s approach, comparing it to his own situation in the music industry.
If I encounter difficulties in my music journey, I do not have to ask for help from mechanics. Now, he [Bobi Wine] is in politics and wants artists to support him.
He further emphasised that once someone transitions from one field to another, they should rely on their new peers rather than their former colleagues. “If you left music and went to politics, don’t look back to the music industry when you get challenges, consult the people in politics,” he added.
Alien Skin also took the opportunity to address the expectations placed on him by some of Bobi Wine’s fans, who have urged him to align with the National Unity Platform (NUP) leader.
He criticized the notion that he should be loyal to Bobi Wine simply because they share a background in music.
It’s okay to see a musician as your friend. If I offer an upcoming artist a million and he turns against me, why can’t I be against the person you are forcing me onto, the same person I have never met before?
Since his rise to fame, Alien Skin has often found himself at odds with Bobi Wine’s supporters, who accuse him of betraying them by working with the government.
Despite these accusations, Alien Skin maintains that his success is independent of any political affiliations, insisting that he would have achieved his status in the music industry without the support of Bobi Wine’s fan base.
